Gibbs Goes Green

Built Green Washington LogoGibbs Roofing Company has recently been recognized as a “green” company by Skagit-Island Counties Builders Association (SICBA) in accordance with Built Green Washington. This means that they use roofing products and practices that do not harm the environment.

“We are as environmentally safe as we can be,” says owner Doug Gibbs. “All of our products are environmentally friendly since we use natural tile and slate.” Other roofing material such as the tar-paper that is used is encapsulated by the tile. Therefore, it’s not exposed to the environment at all. Additionally, all waste materials are disposed of in compliance with established environmental standards.

Green building is simple and smart. Reducing the environmental impact of home construction produces healthier homes that operate much more efficiently, save energy, water, resources — and money, too. Green building is an investment in our future, creating communities and regions that are better places to live today and tomorrow.
